PSL 2026 Venue Guide — Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan
Everything fans need to know about PSL 2026 venues: stadium capacities, pitch behavior, weather conditions, travel tips, and what to expect at each ground.
Your Guide to PSL 2026 Match Venues
PSL 2026 matches are spread across four of Pakistan's premier cricket grounds. Each venue brings its own character, pitch behavior, and atmosphere. Whether you are planning to attend in person or simply want to understand how conditions might affect match outcomes, this guide covers everything you need to know.
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
Capacity: 27,000 | Home Team: Lahore Qalandars
The spiritual home of Pakistani cricket and the venue where more PSL history has been made than any other ground. Gaddafi Stadium has hosted the most PSL finals, including Lahore Qalandars' famous title wins in 2022, 2023, and 2025. The stadium underwent significant renovation in recent years, with improved floodlighting, modern hospitality facilities, and an upgraded playing surface.
Pitch Behavior: Gaddafi Stadium pitches have historically been balanced, offering something for both batters and bowlers. In T20 cricket, the surface tends to be true and even, rewarding good batting. Dew can be a significant factor in evening matches, making chasing slightly favorable. Average first-innings score in PSL matches at this venue is around 170.
Atmosphere: Arguably the best atmosphere in the PSL. When Lahore Qalandars play at home, the noise is deafening. The crowd is knowledgeable and passionate, creating a true home advantage.
Weather (March): Pleasant with temperatures ranging from 18-28 degrees Celsius. Occasional light rain is possible but rare.
National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi
Capacity: 34,228 | Home Team: Karachi Kings
Pakistan's largest cricket venue and the ground where Karachi Kings won their maiden PSL title in 2020. The National Bank Cricket Arena (formerly National Stadium) is a Test venue with rich history and modern facilities. Its larger dimensions and the sea breeze from the nearby Arabian Sea create unique playing conditions.
Pitch Behavior: Karachi pitches can be slower than other Pakistani venues, especially as matches progress. The surface tends to assist spinners in the second innings, and dew plays less of a role compared to Lahore due to the coastal climate. Teams batting first often target 165-175 as a competitive total.
Atmosphere: Karachi fans are among the most cricket-mad in the world. The city's diverse population means you get fans of every team, creating a carnival-like atmosphere regardless of who is playing. The Karachi Kings' fan base is vocal and proud.
Weather (March): Warm and dry with temperatures between 22-32 degrees Celsius. Humidity can be a factor for players.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
Capacity: 15,000 | Home Teams: Rawalpindi Pindiz, Islamabad United
The smallest of the four PSL venues but one with great character. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium has a reputation for producing fast, bouncy pitches that assist pace bowlers, making it a fascinating venue for T20 cricket. With both the Rawalpindi Pindiz (new franchise) and Islamabad United calling this ground home, it will host a significant number of matches in PSL 2026.
Pitch Behavior: Rawalpindi offers the most pace-friendly conditions in the PSL. The ball comes onto the bat nicely, making it a high-scoring venue when top-order batters fire. Pace bowlers with express speed — like Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi — relish bowling here. Average first-innings scores tend to be slightly higher than Karachi at around 175.
Atmosphere: Intimate and intense. The smaller capacity means fans are closer to the action, creating an intimate experience. The twin-city rivalry between Rawalpindi and Islamabad adds an extra edge to matches between their respective franchises.
Weather (March): Cool to mild with temperatures ranging from 12-24 degrees Celsius. Dew can be significant in evening matches.
Multan Cricket Stadium
Capacity: 20,000 | Home Team: Multan Sultans
The City of Saints' cricketing fortress. Multan Cricket Stadium became a regular PSL venue as the Sultans rose to prominence, and the ground has been developed significantly to meet international standards. Located in southern Punjab, Multan offers unique conditions shaped by its hot, dry climate.
Pitch Behavior: Multan pitches start flat and batting-friendly but can deteriorate and assist spin as matches progress. The dry conditions and high temperatures can crack the surface, making spinners like Usama Mir and Abrar Ahmed particularly dangerous in second innings. First-innings scores above 180 are common here, but spin-heavy teams have successfully defended modest totals.
Atmosphere: Passionate southern Punjab fans create a fantastic atmosphere. Multan's fanbase is fiercely loyal to the Sultans and creates one of the most hostile away environments in the PSL.
Weather (March): Warm to hot with temperatures between 20-35 degrees Celsius. Clear skies are the norm, with minimal rain interruption.
Venue Tips for Fans
- Arrive early: Gates open 2-3 hours before match time, and security checks can take time.
- Stay hydrated: Especially at Multan and Karachi, where temperatures can be high.
- Check for dew: If you are betting on match outcomes or playing fantasy cricket, factor in dew at Lahore and Rawalpindi evening matches.
- Book accommodation early: Hotel prices spike during PSL season, particularly in Lahore.
