Your Complete PSL 2026 Squad Breakdown
PSL 11 marks a new chapter with eight franchises battling for the title. Here is a detailed look at every team, their key signings, and what to expect from them this season.
Islamabad United
Captain: Shadab Khan | Coach: Jason Gillespie
Key Players: Shadab Khan, Sharjeel Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Colin Munro, Alex Hales
The most successful franchise in PSL history with two titles (2016, 2018) and a third in 2024, Islamabad United have always been about smart recruiting and aggressive cricket. Under Shadab Khan's dynamic captaincy, they have a balanced squad with explosive batting from Sharjeel Khan and Colin Munro, and a versatile bowling attack led by Shadab himself. Jason Gillespie's coaching experience adds tactical nous.
Strength: All-round squad depth and experience in knockout matches.
Weakness: Middle-order consistency has been a concern in recent seasons.
Karachi Kings
Captain: Imad Wasim | Coach: TBA
Key Players: Imad Wasim, Sharjeel Khan (previous), Rumman Raees, James Vince
Karachi Kings won the 2020 title but have struggled for consistency since. Imad Wasim's all-round abilities remain their backbone, offering tight bowling at an economy of 6.80 and useful lower-order runs. The franchise represents Pakistan's largest cricket market and is always dangerous when their stars fire together.
Strength: Imad Wasim's economical bowling and deep squad of local talent.
Weakness: Need a more reliable top-order anchor for consistent totals.
Lahore Qalandars
Captain: Shaheen Shah Afridi | Coach: Aaqib Javed
Key Players: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Rashid Khan, Haris Rauf
The defending champions and the team to beat. Lahore Qalandars have won three of the last four PSL titles, building a dynasty around their fearsome bowling attack. Shaheen (88 wickets), Haris Rauf (92 wickets), and Rashid Khan (62 wickets) form arguably the best bowling trio in T20 franchise cricket. Fakhar Zaman provides explosive batting at the top with 2,680 career PSL runs and 142 sixes. Their Players Development Program continues to unearth new talent every season.
Strength: Best bowling attack in the PSL and a proven winning culture.
Weakness: Over-reliance on Fakhar at the top; middle-order needs more depth.
Multan Sultans
Captain: Shan Masood | Coach: TBA
Key Players: Shan Masood, Usama Mir, Abrar Ahmed, Ihsanullah
Multan Sultans won titles in 2021 and 2024 but face a rebuilding phase after losing Mohammad Rizwan to Rawalpindi Pindiz. Under new captain Shan Masood, the Sultans will lean on their data-driven approach and strong spin bowling led by Usama Mir and mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed. Young pacer Ihsanullah's raw pace (best figures of 5/15) adds a wildcard element.
Strength: Spin bowling depth and data-driven squad building.
Weakness: Losing Rizwan creates a massive void in batting and leadership.
Peshawar Zalmi
Captain: Babar Azam | Coach: Darren Sammy
Key Players: Babar Azam, Liam Livingstone, Wahab Riaz, Imam-ul-Haq
With Babar Azam (3,198 PSL runs) leading the batting and Darren Sammy's inspirational coaching, Peshawar Zalmi are always competitive. Liam Livingstone adds explosive middle-order power with a strike rate above 160, while veteran Wahab Riaz (98 wickets, the all-time PSL record) leads the bowling. Zalmi have reached the playoffs in seven of ten previous seasons, making them the tournament's most consistent franchise.
Strength: Babar Azam's batting consistency and playoff experience.
Weakness: Pace bowling lacks the same depth as Lahore or Rawalpindi.
Quetta Gladiators
Captain: Sarfaraz Ahmed | Coach: TBA
Key Players: Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Sunil Narine, Mohammad Hasnain
The 2019 champions under Sarfaraz Ahmed have experienced lean seasons recently but remain dangerous on their day. Sunil Narine's miserly bowling (economy of 5.90, the best in PSL history among qualified bowlers) and Mohammad Nawaz's left-arm spin offer excellent control. Sarfaraz's leadership and grit make them a tough side to put away in pressure moments.
Strength: Spin bowling quality and Sarfaraz's leadership in crunch situations.
Weakness: Need more explosive batting options in the powerplay.
Hyderabad Kingsmen
Captain: Marnus Labuschagne | Coach: TBA
Key Players: Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Saim Ayub, Maheesh Theekshana, Kusal Perera
The new franchise enters with a fascinating blend of experience and youth. Marnus Labuschagne brings an unconventional but effective approach to T20, while Glenn Maxwell provides match-winning ability on any surface. Saim Ayub is their most exciting asset at just 22 years old, and Maheesh Theekshana's mystery spin could be a game-changer. Their biggest challenge will be building chemistry quickly.
Strength: Star overseas talent and the X-factor of Saim Ayub.
Weakness: No franchise history or team culture yet; chemistry takes time to build.
Rawalpindi Pindiz
Captain: Mohammad Rizwan | Coach: TBA
Key Players: Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Daryl Mitchell, Mohammad Amir
The second expansion franchise has arguably the most balanced squad in the tournament. Rizwan's 2,520 PSL runs and elite wicketkeeping set the tone, while Naseem Shah (58 wickets) and Mohammad Amir (78 wickets) form a lethal pace partnership. Daryl Mitchell provides stability and versatility. If their pieces click, the Pindiz could be the story of the season.
Strength: Outstanding pace bowling duo and Rizwan's world-class batting.
Weakness: Spin bowling depth could be an issue on turning tracks.
